“Smile, breathe, go slowly.”
—Ram Dass
Liza experiences yoga as a creative, generative, and healing art that opens the channels for us to live from a place of connection and wholeness. She currently lives and teaches asana in Bellingham, Washington.
Her offerings reflect her reverence for yoga as an ancient wisdom tradition with roots in south Asia, her love of creative sequencing, and her commitment to a functional, stabilizing approach to yoga asana. Her Vinyasa classes showcase her skill in holding space for a practice that is grounded, strengthening, and heart-centered to unfold. Her yin offerings are deeply intuitive and nourishing, often inspired by seasonal and other temporal patterns. Liza’s students appreciate the originality, authenticity, and clarity of heart she brings to the mat time and time again. Community, connection, and endless opportunities for growth and learning fuel Liza’s passion for teaching asana.
Liza has taught asana in studios, gyms, community colleges, and community events since 2014, more than 4,000 total teaching hours and over 600 training hours. Since 2019, Liza has taught at the Bellingham Yoga Collective. She helped form the studio’s nascent teacher training program as a member of faculty, by helping to create the program’s training manual, and by supporting several cohorts of students in becoming certified teachers. More recently, Liza has stepped into her role as Director of Programming. Liza also mentors new and emerging teachers, tailoring each mentorship to the specific goals of each teacher.
