Root & Release: Autumn Somatic Sanctuary

A Yoga & Breathwork Retreat

Led by Liza Higbee-Robinson & Romay Nichols

November 22-24, 2025

Whidbey Island, Washington

As deciduous trees surrender their leaves in fall, your body is designed to move through times of change. Embrace the season within. Let your old layers fall. Root into the essential ground of your heart. Make space for wonder and renewal.

Join me and my dear friend Romay for an intimate weekend retreat where slow, grounded movement practices and timeless yogic wisdom merge with the transformative power of somatic breathwork. This is an invitation to step into a sacred healing container of grounded presence and courageous letting go.

In our time together, you’ll experience:

- Gentle flowing & restorative yoga practices that anchor you in present moment awareness.

- Profound somatic breathwork sessions to release stored tension and emotional residue.

- Guided practices for nervous system regulation and embodied peace.

- Space to respond to your body’s innate intelligence and to attune to the rhythm of fall within and without.

What else is included?

- All meals: dinner upon arrival on Saturday, three meals on Sunday, breakfast on Monday

- Simple, peaceful accommodations in private or shared rooms

- Access to onsite amenities: labyrinth, trail system, gardens, the Commons practice hall

- Fire ceremony

Retreat Guides

Yoga with Liza

My guides are functional alignment, creative process, human resiliency, and the teachings of Yoga. My gentle flow classes honor the body’s natural ranges of motion while supporting mental calm and the release of pent-up stress and tension. My yin classes offer physical grounding and support to the body to coax deeper physical, mental, and emotional awareness, release, and unwinding. I am a weaver of movement, breath, and heart themes that are drawn from the ancient teachings and tools of yoga, made relevant to us in the world we inhabit now. I encourage my students to explore through all layers of their aliveness, from the still, spacious depths, to the most mundane and surface level thinking, feeling, and doing.

Somatic Breathwork with Romay

As someone who has been in the trenches of nervous system burnout and overwhelm, I know what it’s like to be living in survival mode. Discovering the profound impact of Somatic Breathwork changed (and is still changing!) my life from the ground level up. It’s my deepest honor to offer this practice to people and guide them into an experience of their True Selves by offloading the old survival energy that is running the show and reconnecting them to their own innate vitality. My certifications in Somatic Breathwork and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy have given me incredible tools to lead intuitive, empathy-based and trauma informed sessions in which participants are safe and free to go on an inward journey towards wholeness, unraveling the deeply held tension and rediscover their natural state of balance and resilience.
